What Is Acupuncture
Healing for over 3500 Years
Acupuncture originates from China and has been practiced there for thousands of years. During the second half of the twentieth century acupuncture began to spread rapidly in Western Europe, the United States and Canada.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the patient’s skin at specific points on the body – the needles are inserted to various depths.
According to current medical science, acupuncture works by triggering the release of internal chemicals that affect the patients’ pain experience.
Acupuncture has admittedly shown therapeutic benefits, including pain relief and alleviation from nausea caused by chemotherapy.
Acupuncture as a medical treatment
has grown exponentially in the past 20 years, increasing at twice the rate of research into conventional biomedicine. Over this period, there have been over 13,000 studies conducted in 60 countries, including hundreds of meta-analyses summarizing the results of thousands of human and animal studies.
A wide-variety of clinical areas have been studied, including pain and cancer.
What is Zen Shiatsu
Mind- Body Acupressure
Zen involves training the mind through meditation.
Shiatsu refers generally to a Japanese pressure therapy used to relieve a variety of problems including back pain, neck and shoulder problems, stress, insomnia, digestive problems, and fatigue. It is based on traditional Chinese medicine techniques, particularly massage therapy that has been recommended since ancient tmes with Japanese innovations.
Zen Shiatsu is a form of bodywork administered by thumbs, fingers, palms and elbows, feet and knees. It depends for its success on a meditative activity of the practitioner, aimed especially at detecting the body responses to the treatment, which influences the subsequent treatment step by step. Pressure is applied to all parts of the body along specific pathways (meridians). These are essentially the same meridians that are used in traditional Chinese medicine for acupuncture, though modified and extended.
The professional Zen Shiatsu therapist is trained to feel the body's condition, particularly the circulation, by his/her hands in order to find the imbalanced areas in the body. By skillfully stimulating the imbalanced meridians, the therapist attempts to restore the balanced flow.

From the Western point of view, shiatsu works directly to calm the autonomic nervous system, which has the effect of calming nervous distress and increasing resistance to stress. By helping with blood and lymph circulation in the body, shiatsu helps to maintain and improve muscle tone and healthy internal organ functions.
It is believed that shiatsu can also strengthen the immune system. Regular and consistent shiatsu treatments can become an important aspect of preventative health care as well as treatment for existing conditions.
What Is Cupping
As Seen in the Olympics and with the stars
In Chinese medicine, cupping is an acient therapy in which heated glass cups are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy.

What is Auriculotherapy
Stressed ? Back Pain? Headaches? Want to stop smoking? Looking to lose weight? Auricular therapy can help! Try it today.
Who knew the answer was in your ears?
Auriculotherapy is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a micro system, which reflects the entire body, represented on the auricle, the outer portion of the ears.
Auriculotherapy is thought to be 7 times more powerful than other methods used for smoking cessation; a single auriculotherapy treatment has been shown to reduce smoking from 20 or more cigarettes a day down to 3 to 5 a day.
When properly administered by a qualified acupuncturist, this technique may help some people lose weight. One study, published in Medical Acupuncture, found that ear acupuncture combined with a 2,000 calorie a day diet and 15-minute walk helped reduce weight. The study involved 20 obese women, 22 to 42 years of age.
The seeds stimulate the point by exerting mild pressure. Auriculotherapy with ear seeds or with acupuncture has been known for centuries to help with anxietyby calming your mind and bringing the whole body into balance. ... Ear seeds, it's like reflexology for the ears

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture originates from China and has been practiced there for thousands of years. During the second half of the twentieth century acupuncture began to spread rapidly in Western Europe, the United States and Canada.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the patient’s skin at specific points on the body – the needles are inserted to various depths.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Acupuncture generally involves several weekly treatments. A visit will involve an exam and an assessment of the patient’s condition, the insertion of needles, and advice on self-care. Most sessions last about 45-60 minutes. First visits will usually last 90 minutes.
The patient will complete a medical questionnaire and the acupuncturist will ask questiins, listen to your concerns, and formulate a treatment plan.
During the treatment, you will be asked to lie down, either face-up, face-down or on his/her side, depending on where the needless are inserted. All needles are single-use disposable sterile needles. As each needle is inserted the patient will usually feel relaxed and/or a heavy sensation. Once inserted, the needles will remain there for about 30-45 minutes.
I am afraid of needles, will it hurt?
Generally, most patients will not feel the needles upon insertion. Because the needles are very thin and stainless steel, many are surprised to find that the needles have been placed.
Some acupoints are more sensitive than others, however most patients, adults and children, find the experience very relaxing and calming. Many fall asleep.
What should I wear?
Wear confortable, loose clothing and layers. Most patients will remain fully clothed during treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Every patient is different. A treatment plan will be discussed with you based upon your chief complaints, current health status and condition. Our goal is to develop a plan for your optimal wellness and preventative care.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance at this time. We can, however, provide you with a superbill which is often accepted by insurers for reimbursement in flexible health plans.
